FAQ for Mindful Outdoor Experience
Where should I go to participate in the call?
You’re looking for a place where cell service is dependable. It doesn’t have to be any place in particular, just a natural area where there isn’t a whole lot of noise, and where you feel comfortable to sit, stand, walk, and stretch. If you choose a place that is familiar to you and convenient to get to, this can help you to build an even deeper intimacy with your community of plants, animals, and other beings.
What should I bring with me?
You just need a fully charged phone, your paper with connection info written on it (see the question below), and headphones or earbuds. You may feel best if you have a handy pocket to store your phone in, and nothing else with you so that you can have your hands free and feel at ease. Do take a moment to consider if there is anything you need to feel comfortable, such as layers of clothing, a mat to sit on (only if you want to), or a bottle of water.
How does the call work?
I’ll send you the details via email. Please write the info on a piece of paper so that you can easily refer to it when you’re outdoors. (If you just save it on your phone, it can be difficult to toggle back and forth between your notes and the number pad.) You’ll dial a phone number and follow prompts to enter the meeting ID and passcode. I recommend putting one earbud in your ear and leaving one out if possible.

Is this super active, like a hike?
No. There is some gentle stretching and mindful walking, which is slow and easy. This is appropriate for people with varying levels of mobility and fitness. Please make sure that you are comfortable with the terrain in the location that you choose.
Will participants be expected to talk?
At the beginning, I’ll invite people to share their name and location. At the end, I’ll invite brief shares about what you were noticing during your outdoor experience. Sharing during these times is optional. For most of the call, you’re invited to simply be quiet and present, just experiencing.
